Child with special needs or battling a life-threatening medical condition must be 18 or younger on the requested date of the event.
Unfortunately, not every nomination will be granted at this time. Since we just started Cake A Wish last month, we are very limited with manpower and resources. Right now we can only grant one cake per month. We will choose to grant the wish based on first come, first served basis and the child's medical condition. But we are at the process of recruiting fellow bakers (aka sugar fairies) so that we can donate more than one cake. Our goal is to grant all cake wishes we'll receive.
Cakes are free of charge. We do not charge for anything, but if you are able to do so, we would gratefully accept any donation. Your donations will help us reimburse our sugar fairies for their costs.
Anyone can make the nomination, however we prefer that the parents of the child make the initial request so that we know we have their permission and it's easier to discuss the details of the cake.
We need at least six (6) weeks of notice before the date of the event, however we recommend that you make the request as early as possible. This will give us plenty of time for preparation and planning of the cake design. Also, once we find other volunteer sugar fairies we need to give them plenty of time so that they can plan accordingly.
We ask for the family to pick up the cake, unless your child is hospitalized. Please let us know if your child is hospitalized so we can coordinate the delivery.
The family can choose the theme, but we (or other sugar fairies) will take care of the design. This way we won't be putting pressure on the sugar fairies' baking and designing skills.
Due to limited resources, we can only offer cakes less than 40 servings.
We are unable to guarantee that the cakes can be completely free of trace ingredients or allergens during preparation. Being the recipient of the donation, you accept full liability and assume the risk that comes with the donated cake. We will try to accommodate the child's dietary restrictions, but only for the child the cake is for and not for other family members or guests at your event.
The child's and their family's privacy is very important to us. We do not need to share the child's story or pictures on social media however it would help us market our service if we can post the picture of the cake on our website and other social media platform. But we will be more than happy to share to our customers and followers the child's picture with the cake if we get the child and their family's permission to do so.
It would be helpful for us to verify the child's eligibility by sending us the child's picture or by sharing a blog or a page dedicated to the child, but it's not necessary. You can just send us a doctor's note on the physician's letterhead stating the child's name, date of birth and condition. Once you completed the nomination form, you can email the note to firstname.lastname@example.org
Your support and contributions will enable us to meet our goals. Your generous donation will help us reimburse our volunteer bakers' costs.
